DESCRIPTION: This is a long format image that really shows the heat and the ruggedness of the Pilbarra Range. This is a desolate land of burning hot rocks, dry soils and stark table monoliths. You can die of heat exhaustion here in just hours. This reality is extant in the clever use of hot colors that you see in this image. Yet Jack does not hate the Pilbarra, he respects it and he shows that it can carry a special kind of adapted life, hence the two signature birds. Jack's other image of this area "Sunset on the Pilbarra Coast" shows a completely different aspect. The Pilbarra Desert is at the northern top of Western Australia. It is a dangerous area to visit.
